Please be aware that on Sunday 28th June the Cardiff Triathlon is taking place and there will be road closures and an exclusion zone within the Bay.

Cardiff Triathlon Sunday 28th June.

Located in Cardiff Bay participants will swim in the Bay, cycle on flat scenic roads around Cardiff and finish with a run out to the Barrage. The Event Village and transition zone will be held on Roald Dahl Plass in front of the Wales Millennium Centre.

The event takes place on Sunday 28th June and as well as a triathlon, there will be lots to see and do to keep spectators entertained. This includes live music and commentary, a wide range of activities, a big screen showing all the race action live, and kids entertainment.

Road closures
Road closures will be in operation further details can be found below supplied by the event organisers Always Aim High Events.

In order to give the competitors and spectators the best and safest experience the following roads will be closed between 08:00 and 11:30 on Sunday 28th June, and put in place alternative diversions:

  • Lloyd George Avenue from its junction with Hemingway Road.
  • Bute Place from its junction with Lloyd George Avenue.
  • James Street, Clarence Road, Avondale Road, Ferry Road.
  • International Drive to its junction with Olympian Way.
  • Olympian Way, Watkiss Way and left onto Dunleavy Drive from its junction with Watkiss Way to its first roundabout.

As such, there will be potential delays in these areas. Stewards will be on hand to guide and assist and in the event of an emergency will be able to escort vehicles out as and when appropriate.
