CMS SEAKA IS CURRENTLY COMPLETING TECHNICAL TRIALS IN BURRY PORT Harbour
The Marine Group’s Harbour Management Division has now expanded its dredging capabilities with the recent completion of their bespoke built ‘Water Injection’ dredger, CMS Seaka.
Having conducted sea trials off Cardiff in recent weeks, CMS Seaka has now arrived at Burry Port. It is currently performing technical trials within the harbour and showing solid and measurable progress. CMS Seaka picks up the baton from CMS Innovation, the smaller water injection dredger that has been working at Burry Port through the summer months.
CMS Seaka is a significantly more powerful, highly efficient machine that adopts the same environmentally friendly water injection technology. It is capable of dredging up to 450 m3 of silt per hour. The technical trials are showing great promise and the operational team are confident in the approach.
On completion of the technical trials and during the month of November some of the pontoon legs will be dismantled to allow for a more aggressive dredging strategy and to facilitate the repair of some of the damaged harbour infrastructure.
The Marine Group will not falter in its mission to achieve the target depths set for this stunning harbour.
A SYMPATHETIC TRANSFORMATION OF THE OLD RNLI BUILDING

The Marine Group have now submitted a detailed planning application for their exciting transformation of the old RNLI building. The design team are currently awaiting formal feedback from the planning department but have worked closely with them to sympathetically design the building in a way that maintains its character, history and charm.
The works are currently scheduled for April 2021 and when complete it will deliver ‘brand standard’ washrooms and facilities for berth holders, a new management suite and an ‘entrepreneurial startup hub’ on the first floor overlooking the harbour. INFRASTRUCTURE UPGRADES IN PROGRESS
As well as the scheduled repair of the pontoon infrastructure, The Marine Group will be installing new diesel fuelling facilities within the harbour. The work is scheduled for the winter months in good time for the start of the next season.
The Marine Group are also pleased to advise that they will be working closely with the council in the coming weeks on the repair of the harbour walls. This important project represents a significant step forward for the harbour and protects its long-term future.
A FULL UPDATE AT BURRY PORT TOWN HALL ON THE 5TH NOVEMBER
As part of our ongoing commitment to open and transparent communication to stakeholders, The Marine Group will be presenting a full update to the town councillors at Burry Port Town Hall on the 5th November.
At the meeting, the team will present their wider investment plans for Burry Port and provide a more detailed update on dredging progress.
