We would like to extend a warm welcome to our new Marina Manager at Port Dinorwic Marina, Ged Tyrer. Ged brings with him a wealth of experience in marine engineering.
Having spent almost 30 years in the Merchant Navy, the best part spent as a Chief Engineer, he has worked on a variety of vessels from 40knot gas turbined fast passenger ferries, to 5 years with the British Antarctic Survey.
Prior to joining The Marine Group, Ged spent 10 years as a Chief Engineer travelling the world on large super yachts from 50meters up to 115 meters in length.
Ged is a keen yachtsman having raced and cruised from a young age. He currently enjoys sailing his 46 year old yacht, mostly single handed, but occasionally with his wife and black lab.
He enjoys maintaining boats as much as he does sailing them and still sails and owns dinghies from a classic wooden clinker dinghy to a Solo.
Ged commented ‘I am looking forward to the future at Port Dinorwic Marina, my aim is to maintain and further develop the friendly atmosphere for both berth holders and marina staff. I am working closely with the experienced boatyard team in Cardiff to further train the staff to expand the services we have on offer to both existing berth holders and visiting boats.’
