Who are we?

The Marine & Property Group Ltd is a leading marine business with a large portfolio of businesses including property, marinas, marine services, power systems and harbour management.

One of our newest offerings is “dredging”; which is a process that removes silt from the seabed material to increase the water depth for navigation or infrastructure projects. Three important members of our team are our three water injection dredging vessels: CMS Innovation (11.5 tonnes), CMS Seaka (30 tonnes) and CMS Doonhamer (55 tonnes) that we own, run and maintain in house.

We’re so proud of them and its an area that we love telling people about. No really, somebody stop me. You can read more about it here Dredging – The Marine Group

2022 is going to be an exciting year for us as we hope our dredgers will be out doing their thing as much as possible. 2022 will be lived by the motto “Have Dredgers, will dredge!” We’d love you to come onboard with us.

Each dredger has a skipper and a crew member. Their working hours are determined by nature and the tides. Sometimes we might ask them to do additional work at one of our marinas.

About You

You will love the boat life, being out in all weathers and being hands on with all jobs that need doing. You’ll be prepared for the varied hours and conditions that Mother Nature dictates.

You’ll be ready and able to get started on Day One by already having experience as crew or handling a small vessel, you’ll know a bit about engines, and hold a level 2 Powerboat course with commercial endorsement (or some other relevant marine qualification), be able to travel and know some health and safety basics, including being able to swim.

About the Role

The role of ‘Dredging Crew’ will include:

  • Aiding in the day to day running of the dredgers
  • Communication with the clients when on-site
  • Understanding and basic trouble shooting of the electronic, GPS and DGPS systems used while dredging
  • Responsible for the onboard checks, logbook management and reporting
  • General maintenance of the vessels including filter changes, paint work
  • Responsibility to maintain MCA coding status
  • Fuelling
  • Crew vehicle checks
  • Tidal shift and weekend work

Hours, Location and Salary

This role is full time shift work with timings determined by the tides.

Currently our dredging operations are primarily in Burry Port and Watchet but as new contracts come in you could be sent anywhere in the UK and potentially further afield.

We’re looking for someone full time ideally, but we believe people work best when they are allowed to work according to their own lifestyle needs. So, talk to us about what flexible working arrangements might suit you best and we can look to try and accommodate.
