We have developed at a rapid pace and have plans in place to continue doing so. We are looking for an experienced Commercial Director who can identify, develop, and implement commercial opportunities while continuing the functional profitability of the current business portfolio.

About You

We’re looking for someone to embrace and continue our community ethos, uniting the team further towards a more commercial mindset and professionalism and optimising business performance.

We need someone who can hit the ground running so you will already have significant experience of working at this level. You’ll have experience of working at the top of an organisation with lots of moving parts. You’ll be used to working with KPI’s, ROI’s, targets, efficiency measures and profitability margins. You’ll be able to influence team members at all levels of the organisation.  You’ll love a collaborative team environment but also be able to make a difficult decision or defend your position under scrutiny. And you’ll also know when to adjust and adapt to a changing environment with different priorities, needs and personalities.

This role is one of the cornerstones of our vision for 2022 and its hugely exciting for us and the right candidate.

About the Role

This is a Director level role and you will have accountability for maintaining and improving the profitability of our current portfolio while also developing new opportunities.

We already have a great team to work with you.

You’ll report directly to our Executive Directors who can give you the benefit of decades of experience in the industry and the entrepreneurial background to continue their vision. You will work together on setting stretching KPIs and targets and continuous development.

You and the Finance Director will have delegated authority to deal with everything on a day-to-day basis. Between you, you will be tracking business plans, margins, cost control and KPIs for each business area. We work with a lot of external partners including suppliers and you’ll be taking an active role in developing relationships and negotiating terms.

And you’ll never be without people to bounce ideas around with. Our Operations Director has salt in their veins and can help you with marine industry specifics (if you don’t already know them) and deal with the detail while you manage the big picture.

We also have a Senior Project Manager who has been with us since the beginning so has great industry and organisational knowledge. They will be on-hand to co-operate with project management and industry accreditations required on contracts.

You’ll be collaborating with our Group Marketing Executive on developing and promoting the image of our brand and on ensuring sales campaigns are successful.

A Group HR Officer will partner with you on people development and employee engagement. And we’re recruiting a Group Health and Safety Officer to be our health and safety guru.

Hours, Location and Salary

The role is 37.5 hours a week, 8.30-4.30pm Monday – Friday. Our head office is in Cardiff, so most of your time will be there, but we expect you’ll want to regularly travel between our sites in Wales and North Somerset because they are all unique (obviously we’ll pay expenses as per our expenses policy).

We believe people work best when they are allowed to work according to their own lifestyle needs. So, talk to us about what flexible working arrangements might suit you best and we can look to find something mutually agreeable.

We are looking for someone as invested in our business as we are so the role will have a target bonus structure as well as a fixed salary of £75,000p.a.

We’re keen for someone to start as soon as possible so we’ll be carrying out interviews as the CV’s come in so there’s no official closing date.
