The Marine Group has significantly expanded the size of its boatyard at Cardiff Marine Village, having acquired a further acre of land from Cardiff Council. The Marine Group has developed the site to create a successful boatyard, drystack and marine business park. The acquisition of this additional land is in response to the demand for further space for their Boatyard.

The Marine Group’s boatyard, is the largest in Wales and as a major insurance repair centre, Hot Vac osmosis centre, Dek-King Dealer, 3M Gelcare Centre and Approved Awlgrip and International Application Centre the company’s growing success requires additional space to meet the increasing demands of their customer base. Work has been completed to the rear of the existing site to effectively double the land for hard standing boat storage. The company is also developing plans to increase their undercover workshop facilities on the site. This expansion, is the latest development in an ongoing programme of investment for the company, which has also recently purchased a dredger and Sealift for lifting boats up to 50 tonnes, to add to the company’s services.

Director of Operations, Rob Freemantle, commented “As a company we are always looking at ways to improve our service offering and expand our facilities. Our aim is to ensure that keeping your boat with us is as convenient and cost effective as possible. The expansion of our boatyard at Cardiff Marine Village allows us to meet the demands of our growing boatyard operations, while at the same time, offering improved hard storage facilities to our customers.”

This additional boat storage facility also allows for the progression of the Bayscape development at Cardiff Marina which previously provided hard storage to the company’s customers at Cardiff Marina. Furthermore, the planning permission granted for the additional land at Cardiff Marine Village, also allows for the later delivery of a further 110 drystack spaces. The existing drystack facility has proved to be a popular alternative to marina berthing for smaller motor boats and ribs and allows for the increase in this service as the demand arises.
