First phase of opening of Port Dinorwic Marina – Staying Local – during Covid-19

We are pleased to now be able to start welcoming local boat owners back to Port Dinorwic Marina. Please be patient with staff and other berth-holders as we all adapt to this new situation.

Following guidance from the Welsh Government and Caernarfon Harbour Trust you are now able to get back on the water and enjoy your boats locally. Please ensure you keep up to date with the latest Welsh Government regulations and those of Caernarfon Harbour Trust before visiting your boat.

Caernarfon Harbour Trust have issued an access statement stating:
” The change in regulation now permits access and use of vessels for recreational use as an outdoor activity. At this review, there was also a change in travel regulation.

The effective meaning behind the change in regulation is that locals can access their
vessels if they are within the travel restriction. The travel restriction also applies to
the navigation of your vessel.

From the date of this notice, the restriction on accessing vessels and the Harbour
limits are removed. However please be reminded that there is still a significant risk
within the UK and measures to ensure a Covid safe return are needed.”

PLEASE READ ACCESS STATEMENT FOR FULL DETAILS

However, in order to facilitate this, while continuing to follow the latest government regulations we do need to introduce a new set of guidelines to ensure the safety of both our berth-holders and staff.

  • If you or a member of your family has COVID-19 symptoms, do not come to our marina sites and follow the self-isolation regulations.
  • To ensure social distancing is maintained, please only access your boat with members of your immediate household or where the vessel is of a sufficient size and design to maintain social distancing, with persons from a different household subject to the current regulations.
  • Ensure you are well prepared with access to hand sanitiser, disinfectant and where necessary disposable gloves.
  • To minimise the chance of requiring any of the emergency services, ensure you have competent crew aboard and only take your boat out if the weather conditions and tides are favourable.

  • Before setting off, even for the shortest of trips, ensure your vessel has enough fuel, is running well and is seaworthy.
  • If you have any concerns as to the safe working condition of your vessel, do not go out. Please contact your marina office to arrange for a member of our boatyard team to visit your vessel to assess the issue. To ensure social distancing, please be sure to leave us a set of keys so we can access it without you present.

  • At obvious pinch points, such as the main access bridges, please wait for others to vacate the area before proceeding.

Info_graphic for email_No overnightIn line with government guidance to stay at your primary residence, no overnight stays are currently permitted at our marinas. Washroom facilities will be locked outside of office hours to help enforce this. At present we are finishing off the new washrooms and waiting for them to be commissioned, but the disabled washroom is available for use during office hours.

SWINGING MOORINGS

Given the latest access statement from YHCHT we are unable to provide access to the swinging moorings until they have carried out the required inspections and maintenance work. Once this work has been completed we will of course be in touch.

  • If your boat is currently in storage, to ensure the safety of our staff we ask that you only access your boat by prior appointment so that we can be sure our staff are not working on vessels close to yours when you would like to attend. Please contact your marina office to make an appointment.
  • While on site please ensure you keep a 2 metre distance to others at all times and be considerate of those around you in the work you are undertaking at present.
  • To ensure the safety of our staff, customers will not have access to any boats we are currently working on in our workshops. Our workshop spaces will remain closed to the public.

LAUNCH DATE

For customers who have their boat on the hard, we will be in touch next week to formulate a plan and to provisionally book in some lift dates to get you back afloat. We are conscious that some boats still require work to be completed and these might be blocking in others that are ready to go afloat. We are also aware that with the current travel restrictions some berth-holders will not yet be able to access their boats. We ask that you are patient and bare in mind that we all have to work together within the Welsh Government’s current regulations.
