Commercial Manager at Port Dinorwic Marina – Job Description
The ‘Commercial Manager’ will be the main commercial contact for all Port Dinorwic Marina customers. Responsible for the day-to-day smooth running of the marina and for its financial performance and on call for general customer enquiries from berth holders, tenants and service customers.

The Individual’s Skills & Experience
The role requires an experienced, enthusiastic, self-motivated individual with high standards. The role requires strong business management skills and a background in a customer service environment. The applicant will have responsibility for the planning, management and delivery of the Port Dinorwic Marina business within the Group. They will implement strategic plans, manage budgets, meet financial targets and be expected to develop the business in line with a 5-year plan that is set by the Directors.

Key Responsibilities of the Commercial Manager will include the management of:
General financial administration of the business – working closely with head office in Cardiff and alongside the ‘Marina Administrator’.
General promotion of Port Dinorwic Marina & The Marine Group.
General customer service for berth holders, tenants and service customers.
General customer communication, local mariner’s notices and weather warnings etc.
Dealing with customer complaints & grievances.
Assisting the company and the ‘Operations Manager’ with the development and promotion of Marine Services at Port Dinorwic Marina.
IT – upgrades or issues to report to appointed IT company.
Ensure that the correct Licences, Certification & Insurances are in place, such as: Ofcom Licence, Boiler Certification etc.
Supplier management and negotiation.
Utility Management – Dealing with Utility Contracts and Billing

Marina & Swinging Moorings
Developing an active harbour with a strong community culture.
Manage berth allocations & the annual renewal process.
Follow up on berthing enquiries.
Develop a waiting list for when berths become available.
Working closely with the Operations Manager to co-ordinate boat movements with customers and hauliers if required.
Working closely with the Operations Manager to arrange the main launch and haul out days, keeping customers updated.
Developing and co-ordinating an event schedule for the berth holders, including hosting an annual Summer Party.
Point of Contact for Caernarfon Harbour Trust (Local Authority). Attend the meetings with their Advisory Committee (twice a year).
Arrange for an annual inspection of the swinging moorings.
Submit inspection reports to Caernarfon Harbour Trust as they are the governing body.
Arrange for making of or purchasing mooring strops.
Selling of mooring strops, including shackles etc.
Maintain taxi service for swinging moorings April to end of October.

Tenant Management
First point of contact for Tenants of all rental units.
Ensuring that rental agreements are up to date and adhered to.
Ensure that all units are occupied, when voids occur market the properties and secure new tenancies.
Respond to tenants’ requests and issues.
Deal with utilities for rental properties, including billing and any issues with utility suppliers.
Maintain a good friendly relationship between Port Dinorwic Marina and the residents & various housing associations / groups bordering the Marina.

Leadership Skills:
Manage the Port Dinorwic Marina team.
Keep team motivated.
Maintain a working, cost effective and operational manning level.
Arrange or provide cover where required, such as for sickness.
Manage & approve holidays.
Manage team grievances.
Allocating work; ensuring this is done and routine duties are undertaken.
Writing up of team rosters, mainly for Rotational Lock Masters and Night Shift; for Night Shift, rosters are set around High Water.
Weekly Attendance Sheets for Payroll, to be forwarded onto HR & Payroll Manager.
To work closely with company HR Manager.
Team Training Matrix to be kept updated; check certification requirements, validity and arrange training as required.
Team Uniform ensure staff are presentable and order new uniform as required.
