Dai 6We are very proud that Dai Jenkins, a member of our team at Aberystwyth Marina, has had his dedication to the RNLI recognised as he receives a ‘Member of the Order of the British Empire’ MBE award in the new years honours list for his services to the charity.

Dedicating over 55 years to the RNLI, Dai has been a truly remarkable member of the Aberystwyth RNLI community. His commitment to the RNLI began as a crew member at Aberystwyth Lifeboat Station however over the years he has taken on a variety volunteer roles including, Lifeboat Operations Manager, and for the last 17 years his time has been spent as a dedicated  fundraiser and treasurer.

On receiving the news of his award Dai said, ‘When I got the letter, I was totally and utterly amazed, why me? Everything I’ve done because I’m interested in things, and not for any award.’

The RNLI is incredibly proud of Dai’s achievements, and is grateful for his continued dedication and support.  Dai is known for personally championing local support in the allocation of the D-class lifeboat to the station, which he then crewed and deployed on many occasions. His outstanding seamanship and passion for his community runs through his blood.
