International Sports Village

Cardiff Marina is situated on the River Ely on the International Sports Village within Cardiff Bay. The site has undergone a huge transformation in the past couple of years with the £1billion regeneration project completely changing the landscape of the area.

Neighbouring the marina is Cardiff International White Water Rafting Centre an Olympic-standard canoe and slalom centre. Cardiff International Pool is only 150m away offering a leisure pool and a 50metre Olympic Pool. The ice rink is next to the pool which is the home of Cardiff Devils Ice Hockey Team. A couple of large supermarkets are also within walking distance of the site. The Pont y Werin Bridge at the heart of our marina completes the circuit of the Bay Edge Footpath allowing a walk around the entirety of Cardiff Bay and easy access to at train station, pub and a supermarket in Penarth.

Cardiff Bay

Cardiff Bay is a 200 hectare freshwater lake created in 2001 by the completion of a 1.1km long barrage. The 3 locks on the barrage are open 24 hours a day 365 days a year allowing easy access into or out of the Bristol Channel. The construction of the barrage has allowed for the creation of an impressive waterfront alongside the freshwater bay known as Mermaid Quay. With pay and display moorings operating in the heart of Mermaid Quay this area is the perfect place to enjoy numerous restaurants, bars, ice cream parlours, boutique shops and of course the magic of theatre at the Wales Millennium Centre.

The Red Dragon Centre

This Centre provides further entertainment for all ages with a selection of restaurants and bars, a multi-screen cinema, bowling alley and casino.

Techniquest

This is a popular attraction set on the waterfront which has exhibitions, shows and programmes to educate and engage people with science and science-related topics.

The Cardiff Bay Visitor Centre

Located in the foyer of the Wales Millennium Centre, this information point provides visitors with an in depth look at Cardiff Bay.

Adventure Cardiff

With centres in Cardiff Bay and Llanishen Sailing Centre. Activities include rowing, sailing, canoeing, kayaking, climbing, powerboating and white water rafting.

Other attractions

Other attractions along the waterfront of Cardiff Bay include the Norwegian Church Arts Centre and the Sennedd Building. The area is also rich in wildlife with Flat Holm Island only 5 miles from Cardiff and the Cardiff Bay wetlands Reserve both bursting with a wide range of birds and wildlife.
